Welcome to the Crystal Room at the May Fair Hotel - dawn of a new era.
The May Fair Hotel opened in 1927 with a suitable royal fanfare, as King George V and Queen Mary gave their seal of approval. The May Fair has long been the place to stay, to be seen and to be entertained. It is the official hotel to the British Film Institute and London Fashion Week, with its grand settings host to fashion previews, dress rehearsals and film premiers.
The Crystal Room features a spectacular Baccarat chandelier which reflects its ambient light off the evocative bronze walls. The carefully chosen collection of ancient art and antiquities found within these pages is perfectly complemented by these magnificent surroundings. The lots to be sold within the room the next day, and the lots that will be sold over the rest of the week, will be available to view on Monday from 12 noon until 5pm.
The TimeLine Champagne Reception will commence at 6pm with a presentation by Dr Jack Ogden on 'Invincible: Diamonds in the Ancient and Medieval World' followed by a book signing for his recently published 'Diamonds: An Early History of the King of Gems' (Yale University Press 2018). Viewing will be available throughout the evening, during which our talented string trio will entertain with classical and modern music until 10pm.
