September sees TimeLine Auctions return once more to the heart of London for its next rostrum sale, held in the spectacular Crystal Ballroom at The May Fair Hotel. Preliminary indications suggest we’re heading towards a record-breaking sale on all accounts.
To fit these magnificent surroundings, we have brought together a diverse array of ancient art from around the globe, catering to a variety of budgets and interests. To request condition reports, further images or to register for telephone bidding on any of the included lots, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Within these pages are objects of intrigue, conflict, celebration, beauty and everyday domesticity. Particular highlights include an elegant Attic Greek Black-Figure vase, with quadriga and gymnasium scene (lot 59); a discoid Roman mosaic featuring the god Bacchus (lot 109); an early silver-gilt Byzantine Priest’s altar group (lot 235); and a silver Sassanian Bowl decorated with repoussé Lions, birds and a Simurgh (lot 354). Our jewellery lots include a spectacular Medieval love ring (lot 593); a pair of Islamic Ram-headed bracelets (lot 471); a Merovingian gold and garnet ornament set (lot 538); and a very rare gilded Viking box brooch (lot 571).
