TimeLine Auctions: 2nd-7th June 2020 Catalogue Auction

For those of you who are looking to hedge against inflation, this sale is a great opportunity. It is our second catalogue auction of 2020, and we are determined to provide you with an uninterrupted service through these unprecedented times. You will find an unparalleled number of investment grade items, along with many unique pieces of great beauty and special historic interest.

Clients are reminded that they are able to conduct their selection process as usual by viewing the high quality images and videos on our website. Our usual service of providing additional images and condition reports to clients on request will continue in a timely fashion. Additionally, we are offering free live video consultations to clients wishing to better acquaint themselves with specific items.

We continue to expand, with several recent additions to our team. Firstly, welcome to consultant Anna Rogers, GIA Graduate Gemmologist who qualified at St Petersburg University of Culture and Art. Anna is a member of the National Association of Jewellers and an individual member of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A). Anna holds a BA in History of Arts from St Petersburg University of Culture and Art and has many years of experience testing, grading and valuing jewellery for insurance and probate purposes. Next, welcome to Dr. Manuel Ceccarelli, our new consultant Assyriologist. Manuel studied Assyriology and Near Eastern Archaeology and Religious Studies at the University of Tübingen. He held the post of research fellow at the University of Mainz from 2011-2014, and of research assistant at the Universities of Bern and Geneva from 2014-2018. His current post-doctoral research focuses on religion in second millennium Mesopotamia. Welcome also to Mr Mehdy Shaddel, from the University of Leiden’s Institute for Area Studies, Timeline’s Western Asiatic and Islamic consultant specialist. Mehdy is a historian of the late antique Near East, specialising in the socio-economic, political and religious history of the early Muslim empire. He has published on a wide range of subjects, including the Arabic historiographical tradition, the Qur'an, and the material culture of early Islam. Lastly, welcome to Heather Berry, our consultant for coins and general antiquities. Heather received an MA in History from the University of Cambridge, wrote her dissertation on seventeenth century headstones, and is a Fellow of the Royal Numismatic Society. She is a professional researcher and assisted with a notable Treasure case while volunteering with the Portable Antiquities Scheme.

We are now accepting consignments for our September sale. Priority rates are available for lots complete with original historic provenance documentation. Our commission rates include (but are not limited to): research; cataloguing; listing; professional photography; publication on a minimum of six internet bidding platforms providing global coverage, unlike most other auctioneers, who only make use of the-saleroom or Live Auctioneers; global online coverage for a duration of five weeks (minimum), again in contrast to many other auctioneers who only provide coverage for a week to ten days as standard; inclusion in our glossy A4 printed catalogues which, again, are distributed globally in their thousands, another service most auction houses sadly no longer offer; advertising and marketing to around 15,000 registered TimeLine users; expertise and condition reports. This is a transparent service with no hidden added fees.

We are experiencing near normal shipping conditions at the time of writing. However, clients need not worry about potential disruptions; many buyers have already opted for our free vaulted storage service, which is available for all items upon receipt of full payment. We will continue to offer up to one year of free storage for promptly settled accounts, extending to an indefinite period of storage for regular clients if required.

Please email enquiries to enquiries@timelineauctions.com. Alternatively, you can reach us on the phone should you wish to seek advice on any aspect of purchase, consigning, or to discuss any element of collecting. For general enquiries, Monday to Friday, please call +44 (0)1277 815121, or you can call Aaron Hammond on +44 (0)7494 866514.

Finally, many thanks to TimeLine’s staff, who are working hard to provide a smooth and seamless service to vendors, investors and collectors. We are of course following government guidelines to ensure the safety of our employees, consultants and clients.

I wish you and your families the best of health through these testing times, and hope to see many of you in the near future.
