Welcome to the TimeLine Auctions November 2019 London Rostrum Auction

 
Our last sale of 2019 welcomes you into the festive season, providing the perfect conclusion to a successful year. 
You are cordially invited to our viewing and champagne reception which will take place at the May Fair Hotel on 25th November 2019. The main sale with take place at the same location on 26th, followed by a further seven sale days conducted, as usual, from our auction premises in Harwich.
 
Notable results from our September sale included: lot 460, the Viking Silver and Gold Inlaid Axehead sold for £60,000; lot 449, the Roman Cavalry Sports Mask reached £95,000; lots 579 and 580, the two Medieval Treasure Rings that were discovered together, were both won by the same buyer for £33,125; and the Charles I Bristol Shilling, lot 3725, topped the coin section achieving £13,750.
 
The November sale has its own share of wonders. Notable lots include: lot 1, an Egyptian Painted Panel from the famous historic collection of Sir Gaston Maspero (1846-1916); lot 74, a wonderful Roman mosaic panel depicting ‘Summer’ guided £40,000-£60,000; lot 77, an important Roman silver-gilt Legionary Plaque for Legion VII offered with a guide price of £20,000-£30,000; lot 602, a 17th century gold ring with superb champagne diamond; and finally, the first half of an important collection of medieval weapons featured within our popular Arms & Armour section.
 
We would also like to take this opportunity to inform clients that we are continuing to work closely with the Art Loss Register, which checks the sale for stolen or looted objects, as well as for known possible fakes or forgeries. In addition, we are now also checking lots against the Interpol database and are able to provide certificates to buyers upon request. Please contact us to enquire further.
 
We have be working to upgrade our website for registered users which now features, amongst others, better expandable images and improved navigation. A new feature, ‘My Alerts’, enables you to receive notifications for available lots which match your ‘key words’, keeping you up-to-date with the latest information. Our Harwich head office has also undergone improvements with additional space allocated to customer care, cataloguing and photo-imaging departments. Our extensive reference library now exceeds 5,000 volumes, ranging from classic companions to the latest publications. We are also working to collect both historic and recent antiquities catalogues from all auction houses and would be delighted to fill our gaps should surplus catalogues be available.
 
In response to the question of whether we are considering ending our printed catalogues in order to reduce costs, we would like to reassure customers both old and new of TimeLine’s commitment to printed catalogues, which we will continue to publish for the benefit of our customers regardless of cost.
 
Finally, we are now accepting consignments for our February sale, traditionally the most active sale of the year, which will be held from 25th February 2020. The deadline for entries is 20th December 2019. We are always pleased to receive clients at our head office, whether regarding sales or purchases - we advise you to simply call ahead to arrange a convenient date.
